Happy Halloween 2009

The kids had fun dressing up for Halloween. Ellie's costumes include a palm tree with a monkey on it, a fairy alligator, and a fairy. Mom just likes to dress her up, and Ellie seems to like it too. She's just so cute! Mikey just had a cool hat from Grandma Lolly and Lexi was a Disney princess. Mom and Dad were too tired to dress up after ripping up the dining room carpet and scrubbing the hard wood floors on Friday.

Hungry Girl's Chinese Salad

Today I made this salad and it was so good.

Hungry Girl's 200 Under 200
Scoopable Chinese Chicken Salad

Ingredients

One 16-ounce package of dry broccoli slaw mix
12 ounces cooked skinless lean chicken breast, chopped
1 cup canned water chestnuts, drained and sliced into thin strips
1 cup canned mandarin orange segments, drained and chopped
1 cup chopped scallions
3/4 cup Newman's Own Lighten Up! Low Fat Sesame Ginger Dressing (Soooo Goood!)

Directions

In a large bowl, toss all of the ingredients together and mix well.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Stir well before serving. Enjoy!

I didn't wait to refrigerate and it was just as good. Brian liked it as well. I am not so sure about Alexis because she isn't feeling well. I checked out this cookbook from the library. There were too many recipes that I wanted to try so I bought a copy.

Mikey at one month

It has been a crazy month. Lots of adjusting and such. It is amazing how much Michael has grown. The best way to show it is with these two pictures. The first was taken the day he came home from the hospital and the next at one month.

Baby Update #4

We thought we would have had the baby by now, however we are mistaken. This last Friday we went into the hospital thinking we were in labor and were sent home. On Sunday we went in the hospital thinking once again we were in labor and we were sent home again. I was supposed to see the doctor yesterday morning, but my appointment was rescheduled for today because another lucky lady had her baby. So after seeing my doctor today and no real changes in my body, we will be going to the hospital tomorrow morning to be induced. The doctor assures me the baby will be born before midnight tomorrow. So stay tuned and we will keep you updated on the happenings.

Slideshow from our SF trip in May

April May 2009 Slide Show (The other one wasn't working properly so I'm reposting this slideshow)

Baby Update #3

So I went to the doctor's yesterday and not much of a change. The baby's head is down, I am a fingertip, and 60% thinned out. So we scheduled an induction for next Wednesday at 7:30am. I am so excited to know that there will be an end to my pregnancy. I am beside myself. Of course I wouldn't mind if he came sooner but I know there will be an end. Wahoo!!!

Alexis has been telling my belly "come out baby brother" She just started that on her own. I think it is pretty funny.

Ellie has two teeth on the bottom and one on top that is working its way through. She is also signing "please", "milk", and "more". She prefers to sign "please". It gets her what she wants faster. She also learned how to drink out of a straw on Saturday and her dad thinks that that is the coolest thing ever.

Baby Update #2

We saw the doctor this morning and everything is pretty much the same as last week except for one more pound. Hopefully it is just the baby. His heart rate was around 150 something. I wouldn't mind if he came sooner than later, but I know he will come when he comes.

I am excited to get together with friends and family this Friday for a baby shower. We are going to tie baby quilts for a local charity. I just felt we should do something different and I have been blessed so greatly in my life. This is the least we could do.

For most of the pregnancy the weather has been wonderful and not too humid. However, this week has been like what a Michigan summer should be. All I want to do is lay in front of the fan and keep cool.

This morning I woke up around 3:30am and couldn't sleep because all I could think about were the dirty dishes in the sink, the unwashed unfolded clothes, and the messy basement. So I got up and took care of things. Then went back to sleep. I hope it doesn't happen again.

Baby Update

We went to the doctor on Monday after attending the 1p36 Conference in Indianapolis. I am half way thinned out and closed. The baby's head is dropped as far as will be until delivery and he is head down. So we expect no baby this week.

Because of that Brian has left for California to work on his research paper with Ted. Which I thought was fine until tonight when I started having regular contractions. They have calmed down some so I don't think anything will happen. I also just realized that there is a full moon tonight which might mean something or not.

So hopefully no baby until Sunday at least. We'll keep you updated.

Family Update

We went to the doctor's on Wednesday and everything looks good. My uterus is all the way up to my ribs so the baby can only grow out. I don't know if my stomach can stretch much further. The baby's heart rate was good and I had gained only a pound. I am excited about that! I have seven pounds left to gain that would be all baby anything over that and I am in trouble. The doctor said I can go on one last trip before I have to be within an hour of the hospital. So we are going to a 1p36 Conference next weekend. Hopefully we can meet new friends and keep in contact with other families that are having to raise a child with this deletion.

Ellie enjoys smacking my belly and when she does the baby kicks back. It is a lot of fun. She has also learned to fold her arms, it is so cute. Alexis seems to be having fun with Nana and Poppy. I know she has been keeping them busy. I know I have been grateful for the quiet time before everything gets really crazy around here. Thank you Nana and Poppy.

Brian has been working on a paper for publication that is due next week. That has been keeping him busy along with his new calling as Elder's Quorum President. Our ward just combined with the other Battle Creek ward. There is a lot of work to be done.

We'll keep you updated on how things are going. We are sorry for not keeping up on our monthly slide shows. We will work on that. In the mean time enjoy a video of Ellie folding her arms. She is a real ham these days. I don't think that is going to change.

Another Milestone!!!

On Sunday Ellie got up in the middle of the floor and took a few steps. I squealed and she enjoyed that so she did it again. Brian and I knew that it wouldn't be long before she could walk longer distances. This morning it happened. Brian was able to capture it on video. She was being a stinker yesterday and crawled every time we tried to get her on video. I am so excited to see her new accomplishment.

Ellie is ONE!!!

Ellie turned one on May 28th. We kept her party small. For dinner we had spaghetti and for her birthday treat Mommy made chocolate chip cookie treasure cupcakes (yummy!!!). We had Grandpa & Grandma Kinghorn, Aunt Lauren, Nana & Poppy and Aunt Jenna join us via our webcams on both of our computers. It was a lot of fun.
